The Church of God of Prophecy is a dynamic Bible-believing,
Spirit-filled Christian fellowship embracing believers of all social
classes and backgrounds, united in seeking to reflect the Person and
fulfill the Commission of Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:18-19 and Acts 1:8)
in Jamaica and the Cayman Islands.
There
are 286 local congregations scattered across the length and breadth of
Jamaica, and one in Grand Cayman. The average membership in each of these
local churches is approximately 80 covenanted members with a following of more
than twice that number.
The
wide spread of the Church of God of Prophecy throughout Jamaica allows for the
vast majority of the population to easily visit a congregation where a warm
welcome, spirit-filled worship, fervent evangelism, Biblical teaching and
earnest preparation for our Lord's return are - by the grace of God - evident
characteristics.
The
Church of God of Prophecy in Jamaica and the Cayman Islands is linked to a
worldwide group of believers in more than 100 countries through the
International Offices of the Church of God of Prophecy located in Cleveland,
Tennessee of the United States of America.
The
Church in Jamaica and the Cayman Islands is administered through the National
Offices at 6 Phoenix Avenue, Kingston 10, Jamaica. Since August 1, 1998,
Bishop Clayton N Martin assumed the responsibilities of National Overseer of
Jamaica, the Cayman Islands and Guyana. This following his appointment in the
1998 General (International) Assembly replacing Bishop Arthur C. Moss.
As
National Overseer Bishop Martin gives general oversight, spiritual guidance
and administrative direction to the nearly 300 local churches with more than
25,000 covenanted members, and represents the church on national/state
occasions or issues.
In
addition to the National Overseer, the staff of the National Office includes
two Administrative Assistants, the Secretary to the National Overseer, the
National Treasurer, the National Accountant, the SBR/ Sales Representative,
and the Office Assistant.
For
administrative efficiency, the work of the church is divided departmentally
into ministry areas and geographically into parishes/districts as appointed by
the National Overseer.
